Bahari - Futuregames
Project 02, 2020
This was the second project at Futuregames, made under 4 weeks. The task was to create a game combining two sports, we chose free diving and extreme photography.
We took great inspiration from Abzu and Beyond Blue.
For this project I was mainly working as a level artist with populating, lighting and setting up environmental VFX such as vegetation shaders, water shaders and local fog etc.
I also tried making an animation shader for jellyfish, and it turned out horrible, haha!
During the course of those weeks I learned a lot about the importance of having a clear vision of the game and proper art direction.

Water caustics and water surface shader
This was made with the help from article by Timothy Cole.
The water "surface" was made using a simple UV offset on the Normal with high metallic and reflection.

Kelp shader
Other vegetation had a simplified version of this shader.

Fake light ray shader
Since the water surface was not transparent we had to fake some light rays inside the level.
